Belt Scales
JWS Belt Scales weighing solutions
Belt scales provide the most cost-effective solution for weighing material being transported over a conveyor belt. with the highest accuracy. They are designed for continuous operation for long periods of time. The solution when setting up a dynamic weighing application is dependent on the type of material being weighed. JWS are experienced in this area and can evaluate and advise the weighing device that best suits specific application needs.
Belt scales can be used in a variety of different industries including:
- Quarries
- Food production
- Recycling
- Chemical
- Steel
JWS offer a broad range of conveyor belt scales suited to different needs and environments.
With each model there is the possibility of one or more alternatives for every application. Within different markets, there are many ways to use a belt scale to measure the actual flow on a conveyer belt which can also be used for dosing a product.
How does it work?
A belt scale consists of a weigh frame with one or more load cells, speed pick up and a weigh processor, which integrates the two signals (kg/m and m/s) into a value of kg or tons per hour.
The selection of the weigh frame and speed pick up is determined by the requested accuracy, variables like belt speed and inclination of the belt, the structure of the transport belt, and external circumstances like moisture and aggressive environment.

The model WE503 is an approved weigh processor, which can be used in most applications for dynamic weighers, like belt scales, Screw Weighers, Bulkslide Flowmeters and Impact Flowmeters.
It provides a readout of the actual flow in kg per hour (or ton/hour) or the total in kg (or tons) and has three totalizers.
In addition to the basic functions of dynamic weighers, the WE503D also has Batch functionality and a PID control function, which can be used to control the capacity in function of a setpoint. Possible inputs and outputs are analogue (4-20 mA), Digital I/O (and counting pulse), RS-232/RS-485, USB port, Modbus RTU, Ethernet TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, Profibus-DP, Profinet, EthernetIP, CANOPEN and other Fieldbus connections.
